SPAM buttons are placed in email clients (the tool used to read email) to file a complaint with your service provided about specific email you have received. This button is not the same as your delete button. If you do not want an email but it has not been sent without your permission (from either a form or a prior relationship) please delete it or use the messages unsubscribe functionality to remove yourself from a list. Using the SPAM button makes it more difficult for senders to send their legitimate email. Please use your SPAM button when you get real SPAM and help your service provider fight against SPAM
SPAM
Unsolicited and unwanted e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail. SPAM is often to sell explicit products or for refinancing scams. The Federal Trade Commission provides lots of valuable information.
