2010 Who's Your Hero Winners

Denver DataMan in partnership with C Squared Computers has teamed up to honor three local businesses with the second annual Who's Your Hero Award.

This year the winners are:

Pat Greenway, executive director of the Listen Foundation. The 41-year-old organization advocates for families of deaf children who want their children to learn to listen and talk like hearing children – helping them reach their full potential without relying on assistance for the rest of their lives. The foundation educates families and professionals on the benefits of auditory-verbal therapy for deaf children and funds the therapy for families who can’t afford it. Greenway has skipped taking her own paycheck at times to avoid reducing therapy for children receiving help from the foundation and she is a tireless advocate for hearing-impaired children.

Esti Karo, the founder of One Mouth, donates her time and money to buy, prepare and serve breakfast two Sundays a month for homeless kids at Urban Peak. Karo makes sure there’s enough food prepared so no kid goes hungry. Last Christmas, she raised enough money to give each kid at Urban Peak a stocking cap, two pairs of socks, a toothbrush and a $5 McDonald’s gift card. Last spring, Karo decided she didn’t need so many “materialist items” and cleaned house by holding a yard sale to raise money for One Mouth. There were no prices, just a $5 minimum, and all the money raised was used to feed homeless kids at Urban Peak.

Brian Hart, owner of Frame de Art, the sole provider of custom framing to numerous non-profit organizations around the city including the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, Bonfils Blood Center, John Lynch Foundation, and the Inter-Faith Task Force. He also provides custom framing the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the National Guard, Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Broncos and Broncos Cheerleaders and the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team. Brian has been voted as Business Person of the Year for the Englewood Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. Frame de Art was a member of the Channel 7 A-List two years in a row and has more than 300 testimonials on the Channel 7 website. Frame de Art also was nominated for Small Business of the Year for the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce.
